Essen. One of the major topics of the 16th edition of E-world energy & water from 16 to 18 February 2016 at the Messe Essen exhibition centre will be the intelligent and efficient use of energy. Efficient solutions for the energy turnaround (Energiewende) and climate protection are also being spotlighted on the joint stand of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In Hall 3, Stand 370, the North Rhine-Westphalian Climate Protection and Environment Ministry will be exhibiting together with EnergyAgency.NRW and the clusters EnergyRegion.NRW and EnergyResearch.NRW under the heading "Climate Protection – made in NRW". Also involved are 20 companies and institutions who will be demonstrating their competencies, services and products. In addition, at the Foreign Trade Information Point, experts will provide information on opportunities for German companies on international energy markets. The media partner is the Springer-VDI-Verlag publishing house with its energy journal BWK. ( www.energieagentur.nrw and www.e-world-essen.com )
Advice for the energy turnaround on the spot
The energy turnaround is one of the central responses to climate change. With tailored services, strategies and products Arcanum Energy from Unna provides support to its customers from the energy industry and municipalities concerning the local implementation of the energy turnaround. The spotlight here is on renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and CO2 reduction. In addition to individual consultations, emphasis will be placed on forward-looking business models, such as energy efficiency networks, energy co-operatives, energy scouts or climate platforms. The Bielefeld-based company GILDEMEISTER energy solutions will be presenting complete solutions in the entire field of energy efficiency and energy management for the generation, storage and intelligent application of renewable energy for large- and small-scale industrial companies and municipalities. bofest consult GmbH from Ratingen is a medium-sized consulting company whose specialist field for the past 15 years has been the energy sector. The focus here is on excellent expert consultancy along the entire energy economy value chain. Advice on the funding of energy and climate protection projects can be obtained from the Düsseldorf-based NRW.BANK. This development bank for North Rhine-Westphalia assists companies, municipalities and individuals in the nation's most populous state with a whole range of loan-related assistance and funding products, starting with assistance programmes of the state, the federal government and the EU through to financing via equity and loan capital.
Energy turnaround with renewables
SolarWorld AG from Bonn is presenting high-tech solar solutions. This company houses all the production stages under one roof: from silicon as the raw material, to solar wafers and cells through to the solar power module. This also encompasses the company's own research and development. B&W Energy GmbH & Co. KG from Heiden is on the stand as an established supplier of infrastructure related to photovoltaics for projects in Germany and the rest of Europe. It offers customised solutions for small- and large-scale industry, tourism, trade and service providers. B&W Energy handles all the jobs leading to the first self-generated kWh of solar power. The Düsseldorf company ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG shows how electricity, heat and cold are generated by converting biomass and waste. The E3 is a series-produced, patented, fully automated and inexpensive biomass generator to produce power, either when connected to the grid or independent of it.
Efficiency: a pillar of the energy turnaround
WATERKOTTE GmbH from Herne is demonstrating future-proof heating technologies. Alongside the heat pump, the controlled, centralised ventilation system, the PV battery storage system and the home manage system are important items in this system company's range. The individual components engage like cogs and pursue a higher objective: maximum efficiency with the greatest possible comfort. Steinhaus Informationssysteme GmbH from Datteln is presenting a versatile information system with integrated data warehouse. The TeBIS®-System is used to tackle all kinds of technical questions, such as energy optimisation, energy management, resources efficiency and smart energy. Gas- und Wärme-Institut Essen e.V. will demonstrate practice-related solutions for gas applications. The institute's major research interests centre on the condition of gas, supply reliability and gas application technologies, going from the domestic level to the scale of large-scale industry.
Electromobility accelerates the energy turnaround
One particularly eye-catching exhibit is the Nissan E-NV200 electric van of the Aachen-based smartlab Innovationsgesellschaft. This company, owned by the public utilities Stadtwerke Aachen, Duisburg and Osnabrück, is putting green electricity on the road with its "ladenetz.de" charging point initiative. ladenetz.de is a co-operative venture for electromobility – by municipal utilities for municipal utilities. The aim is to build up a blanket network of efficient charging stations and hence enable end customers to make simple use of a roaming-based, public charging infrastructure throughout Germany and other European countries. About 55 utilities are already ladenetz.de partners and offer their customers access to more than 500 charging points in Germany alone.
Climate protection as an economic driving force
How can climate protection become a reality – and what about quality of life? KlimaExpo.NRW based in Gelsenkirchen shows how. Since 2014 this exhibition has been presenting pioneering projects which illustrate really well "climate protection as an engine for progress" in North Rhine-Westphalia. At this year's E-world this state initiative will be showing the trade fair public a wide selection of model projects and will enable the visitor to experience an industrial region which is undergoing a "green transformation" – by means of graphic films, personal interviews, exhibits and also digitally. Adapted solutions to technical, legal and organisational municipal questions which combine economic efficiency and the environment will be presented by KommunalAgentur.NRW based in Düsseldorf. As the PlattformKlima.NRW it acts on behalf of the NRW Climate Protection and Environment Ministry in advising municipalities and administrative districts as they perform their climate protection and climate change functions. The project group "Grüne Hauptstadt Europas 2017" is presenting the successful history of transformation from a coal and steel town to the greenest town in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2017 Essen will provide evidence of its exemplary role in Europe with sustainable projects and investments and will organise these to make a city worthy for its citizens to live in.
Modern power plant technologies for climate protection
The presentation by Rhein Ruhr Power e.V. highlights the development of an extremely flexible and high efficient fossil-fuel-based power plant and a solar-thermal power tower as the "power plant of the future". This association based in Duesseldorf brings together companies operating in the field of German energy and power plant technology. In joint projects it members perform the research and development functions relating to the design, development and subsequent construction of the "power plant of the future". Industrial companies work hand in hand with federations and scientific institutions. E-quad Power Systems GmbH from Herzogenrath is presenting an innovative CHP (combined power and heat) plant. The Capstone micro gas turbine is suitable for many applications: In addition to producing warm and hot water, it is possible to connect it to an absorption refrigerating machine to generate low temperatures for refrigeration or deep-freeze purposes and to link it with a steam generator or burner. Furthermore the exhaust gases from the turbine can be used for direct drying.
